Philosophy

I specialize in helping people start nonprofit organizations. I discuss with the founders their vision and mission, then tailor all the founding documents to their needs. I feel what sets my services apart is my focus on the questions: Should you be a nonprofit? Do you understand the ramifications of that status? I am not an attorney, but I am an expert in non-profit law in New Mexico and California, and my knowledge of those codes ensures that all documents and filings are in compliance with those codes. I help organizations avoid pitfalls. And I love helping start-ups that are full of hope, enthusiasm and vision.

I pride myself in being completely honest with clients. If I have the knowledge and experience to tackle a project, I say so, but if I don’t, I am equally frank about that. I run my business according to the current realities and ongoing challenges of the nonprofit world and understand that excess funds for consultants are often hard to come by. My fees are based on a sliding scale to accommodate the resources of each organization.
